Arts Active! At St David's Hall in Cardiff. What amazing people they are.

Zoo! Tidy! & Tidy2! Have been huge projects where children write songs, words AND music, make art, and put it all together on the stage of St David's Hall. It's a pleasure to start the project in each class, writing lyrics with the children. Inspirational composer Helen Woods then makes the children into composers and performers.

Helen and I have worked together on many projects, and it's always interesting to see what she and the classes do with the words. Notable songs have included Where's my sock? Nice cup of tea, Cheeky Monkeys, and Plastic Planet!

I have worked on quite a few collaborations over the years, like Ocean Commotion for the Brecon Schools, and the enormous Taliesin Project for Caerphilly Arts Development; and it is a wonderful thing to work with artists, musicians, actors, dancers, all working towards a multi-layered performance. Although being the writer isn't the most high-profile job, I always point out to the children that without the story and the words - there's no show!
